At 69, Dimple Kapadia reflects on her legacy: ‘I was a first-generation actor in my family; was only 15 when offered Bobby by Raj Kapoor’ - Exclusive
In a world obsessed with filters, there are a few ageless beauties, and without a doubt, Dimple Kapadia is one of them. The actress who left an impression with her work in movies like ‘Rudaali,’ ‘Lekin,’ ‘Kaash,’ ‘Drishti,’ ‘Zakhmee Aurat’ and more turned a year old recently. Now 69 years old, Dimple Kapadia doesn’t feel the burden of age or have any pressure to work.
“Nor do I miss doing movies. The occasional one that comes my way is enough. I am not even looking for roles. If and when they come my way, and I like what’s on offer, I do it. Otherwise, my hands are full with other things,” she told us in an exclusive conversation.
Meanwhile, the third generation of the Kapadia-Khanna family is ready to step into the entertainment world. Dimple’s granddaughter, her second daughter Rinke’s daughter Naomika, is all set to make her debut opposite Vedang Raina in a love story.
Reflecting on it, the actress highlighted that she feels the full impact of the legacy. She shared, “I was a first-generation actor in my family. I was only 15 when I was offered Bobby by Raj Kapoor Saab. I had no idea what I was doing. I blindly followed the director.”
“We are a family of actors. Even when the cameras are off, we do a lot of naatak,” she added, talking about her clan.
For the actress, her family matters the most, and thus, in the end, when asked if she has any unfulfilled wishes, she replied, “None! None at all. I’ve the most beautiful family, of which I am prouder than my career as an actor.”
Dimple Kapadia is one of the actresses who transitioned from the big screen to OTT. She now balances both, or as she says, takes a project as it comes. She was last seen in ‘Jab Khuli Kitaab.’
