Ayushmann Khurrana says that being a rule-breaker is his USP

Ayushmann Khurrana is among those few actors in Bollywood, who have always followed their heart when it comes to choosing films. In a recent interview with a daily, the actor was told that he wears the ‘Mr Dependable’ tag. Talking about it, Ayushmann said that he has always stuck to his conviction, except for a few hiccups following his Bollowing debut, ‘Vicky Donor’.He said that he only chose films that appealed to his sensibilities, without blindly following any formula or the convention.
Ayushmann added that being the quintessential rule-breaker worked in his favour, and he sees it as the validation of his choices. The actor explained that right from his first film, he made choices that may have looked difficult to his contemporaries, but most of his outings were appreciated and reaped rewards.
When asked if he is the rule-breaker or Mr Dependable, he said that he could be both. However, Ayushmann emphasised that it’s important to be a rule-breaker in today’s time, as there is a need for content that is radical and out-of-the-box. And to do films like that, he noted, one needs artistes who can defy the norms. He also said that being a rule-breaker has been his USP, while the ‘Mr Dependable’ tag has come with box-office success.
