Benegal criticises DD for mediocre serials

nagpur: reputed film-maker shyam benegal on sunday said doordarshan was not living up to the expectations of the masses and described its productions as "mediocre and cheap". "doordarshan is wasting a huge amount on production of these programmes. there is no sense of accountability with dd", he alleged while speaking at the inauguration of central india films and television institute (cifti) here.stressing on maintaining standards for films production, benegal said cinema is either good or bad and there is no parallel cinema as such. cifti would be conducting courses in acting, direction, production, television camera handling and editing besides various other aspects of audio-visual industry, its chief coordinator anuradha joshi said. the first batch will commence from september 10, she added.
