Bollywood gives a thumbs up to 'Aligarh'

After winning rave reviews at international film festivals, Hansal Mehta's 'Aligarh' has garnered accolades from Bollywood as well. Inspired by a real-life incident, the film revolves around professor Siras (Manoj Bajpayee), who was reportedly suspended by Aligarh University because of his sexual orientation.

Director-producer Aanand L Rai was all praises for Manoj's poignant performance. He tweeted, 'Manoj brings out the most endearing character in the most shocking film of the year. Hansal should take a bow for this gutsy film.' Filmmaker Govind Nihalani couldn't stop raving about the director's approach to the film. He said, 'The character of professor Siras has been handled with compassion and dignity, which makes it a milestone of a kind.'
'Aligarh,' produced by Eros International and Karma Pictures, releases on February 26.
