‘Border 2’ Movie Review and Release Live Updates: Suniel Shetty says he would have loved to return for 'Border 2'
Actor Suniel Shetty considers filmmaker J P Dutta's 1997 war film "Border" one of the most defining experiences of his career and says that had his character not been killed in the film, he would have returned for its upcoming sequel.
"Border", which was inspired by real events from the 1971 India–Pakistan war, featured Shetty as Captain Bhairon Singh, a battle-hardened Indian Army officer who was martyred towards the end of the film.

“I will never forget this film (Border)… When I was offered this character, I was scared as I felt would I be able to play this character because playing a reel life character is easy but essaying a real-life character is very difficult," he told reporters.

"When I got my death sequence, I was very happy. When you die for the country, it feels good. But for the first time I felt that if I was alive in 'Border', then I would have become part of 'Border 2'. I always had this itch to wear the uniform,” Shetty added.

“Border 2”, directed by Anurag Singh, brings back Sunny Deol alongside a host of newcomers, including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Shetty’s son Ahan Shetty.

Actor and a proud father Suniel Shetty had tears rolling down his cheek as he got emotional while speaking about his son Ahan Shetty’s journey in the film industry.

Suniel said that Ahan went through a brief lull after his debut film and, contrary to the perception that star kids have it easy, faced a challenging phase professionally.

“After his first film, there was a little break. You know, there’s always turmoil in our lives. Sab bolte hain ke Suniel Shetty ka beta hai kaam toh bahut hi milta hai…. But somewhere or the other, there’s a lot that Ahan went through in life.”

"I did 'Border' because when I watched my father's (Dharmendra) film 'Haqeeqat', I loved it deeply. I was a child then. ‘Border 2’ Movie Review and Release Live Updates: Varun Dhawan was 'nervous' about 'Border 2', Ahan Shetty sought father Suniel Shetty's advice
Actors Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty, who are the new entrants in 'Border 2', said they were “nervous" and "petrified” to be part of the sequel of the 1997 hit.
Both Dhawan and Shetty said they were thrilled to be sharing screen space with Deol, who was also part of 'Border'.
“After many years, I’m feeling very nervous and emotional. An actor always pins his hopes on a film, and thinks that, ‘I hope people like the work that I’ve done’. For me, the biggest thing was to work with Sunny Deol and I’m genuinely thankful to him for giving us the opportunity to work alongside him,” Dhawan said.
Recalling the initial days when he began filming for 'Border 2', the actor said even though he was a bit nervous, Deol made him feel comfortable on the movie set.
“When I did my first scene with him, and he took the name of my character, I got nervous and told Anurag, ‘He is sounding like Sunny Deol’ and he laughed about it. He has been my hero as a child, and I had seen ‘Border’ in Chandan theatre multiple times. To see him in front of me was a big thing. The child in me was very happy,” Dhawan said.
Ahan said, “The first one or two days, I was petrified on set, my hands were shivering to be part of such a big film. My first film, 'Tadap' came in 2021 so it was a long gap for me, to be able to just come on set with Varun, Sunny sir, and learn everything, to have the support of my producers and director, was a blessing in disguise.”

‘Border 2’ Movie Review and Release Live Updates: Varun Dhawan on undergoing gruelling schedule & shooting at real locations for 'Border 2'
To do justice to playing the role inspired by the real-life war hero, Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, Varun Dhawan had to undergo some intense training that included strength training, endurance work, and mobility.
"Border 2 demanded a different level of physical and mental discipline, especially since we were shooting at real locations like Babina, and such situations really put you in the mindset of a soldier. You’re out there all day, often in tough conditions, so fitness becomes less about looking a certain way and more about stamina and recovery," explained Varun.
He added, "My routine had to be very functional, lots of strength training, endurance work, and mobility because the terrain and weather can not be kind. Diet-wise, I kept it very clean and simple: high protein, good carbs, and lots of hydration to sustain long outdoor shoots."

‘Border 2’ Movie Review and Release Live Updates: Anu Malik on recreating 'Sandese Aate Hain' with Javed Akhtar
Recalling how they created the track at his house in just seven-and-half minutes, Anu Malik said while he and Javed Akhtar were brainstorming ideas for the song, an old melody sprung in his mind and that's how it all came together.
"While I was doing this song, this note came in my head, ‘Aye Guzarne Wali Hawa Bata…’ and suddenly Javed sahab heard it and said, ‘Sing it again’. It reminded me of an early tune I had made for some other director, which was not used. He said, ‘Can you join that phrase we had written?’, I said, ‘Okay’,” the composer said.
"I remember the phrase, ‘I said I will sing’. Javed sahab suddenly got up and gave me a huge hug. He said you’ve made this song in seven and a half minutes."
Malik praised JP Dutta, and said he subtly guided him while working on the soundtrack of “Border”. The two later collaborated on films like “LOC Kargil”, “Umrao Jaan”, and “Paltan”.
"JP Dutta was the one who inspired me in a silent way, I love him very much. He is a terrific human being, he speaks less but he knows what he wants and his father OP Dutta, these two people when they were in front of me, I used to look up to them,” Malik said.

‘Border 2’ Movie Review and Release Live Updates: 'Border 2' incomplete without 'Sandese Aate Hai', Anu Malik
Anu Malik says 'Border 2', the sequel to the hit 1997 war drama 'Border', is incomplete without 'Sandese Aate Hai' and he hopes the reimagined version of the song includes him and lyricist Javed Akhtar in the credits.
The new rendition of 'Sandese Aate Hai', renamed 'Ghar Kab Aaoge', has been reimagined by composer Mithoon, with additional lyrics penned by Manoj Muntashir. This reinterpretation includes an ensemble of vocalists like Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, Vishal Mishra, and Diljit Dosanjh.
"I believe the song is recreated. I’m not a part of it. I’m sure they will give my name to it as I’ve created the song. They should because people know about our contribution, they can't get away. They can't make ‘Border 2’ without ‘Sandese Aate Hai’... Both Anu Malik and Javed Akhtar are up there (in their contribution), so they will have to put our name somewhere,” the musician told PTI in an interview.
