"As a child, I grew up loving stories from Indian mythology," said director Ayan Mukerji as he shared the inspiration behind his upcoming film 'Brahmastra'.

Alia Bhatt, reportedly has its roots set deep in Indian culture and mythology. "My father used to tell me a lot about our powerful gods and goddesses and I would sit immersed in these words for hours," Mukerji explained in a new video titled, "Where I found the Light for Brahmastra!"

In his clip, Mukerji speaks about his fascination about mythological stories of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, Lord
Ganesha, Lord Hanuman and Indian goddesses like Kaali and Durga.
Besides the Indian inspiration, he revealed that several Hollywood books and films also played a part in shaping up this story. "Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter were my all-time favourite books," he said and went on to add, "I observed how Hollywood was using technology to bring their stories to life."
Brahmastra is set to be a 3-part film franchise and the beginning of India’s first original universe The Astraverse. It is a new original cinematic universe inspired by deeply rooted concepts but set in the modern world. With the help of cutting-edge technology and never-seen-before visual spectacles, the director will finally debut his ambitious project on the big screen on September 9.
The first part of the franchise tells the story of Shiva, who is on the brink of an epic love, with a girl named Isha. But their world is turned upside down because Shiva learns that he has a mysterious connection to the Brahmastra and a great power within him that he doesn’t understand just yet - the power of Fire.
The magnum opus will release in 5 Indian languages – Hindi, and will be presented by S. S. Rajamouli in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The film also stars
Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and
Nagarjuna Akkineni.
