Buzz has it that Reliance’s Big Entertainment that was all set to distribute Nagesh Kukunoor’s Aashayein produced by Percept Picture Company, has backed out at the last minute.
Aashayein, starring John Abraham, was launched last year just before John was to attend the Oscar Awards as Deepa Mehta���s film Water was nominated in the Best Foreign Film category.
Our source said, ���Nagesh Kukunoor and Percept Picture Company felt it was an apt time to launch Aashayein as it would generate the required hype for the film because of John���s Oscar invitation.���
However, Aashayein has been in the making for over a year now and has no takers. ���No distributor is willing to touch the film. Reliance was not happy with Aashayein���s final product. They felt that the final outcome did not live up to the mark even though the film had a big star like John Abraham,��� our source said.
Our source added, ���John had read the script of Aashayein five times and cried every time he read it as it was an emotional subject. However, John has realised that what was written and what has come across on screen are two completely different things. There���s been friction between John and Nagesh due to this.���
