Did Shekhar Kapur once reject Aamir Khan's request to be his assistant director? Filmmaker says, 'Good thing he was refused'
Shekhar Kapur recently revealed whether he rejected Aamir Khan when the superstar approached him to be his assistant director on a movie. The veteran filmmaker shared that someone else, not him, denied Khan the AD position on that particular film. The reason was Aamir's car.
The filmmaker added, "Aamir came wanting to assist. Satish was the first assistant director. He told me, 'Sir, I am the first assistant, the second assistant has a car, but I don't have a car. You can't keep him.'" Kapur shared that rejecting Aamir Khan's approach was not his decision. He said, "Satish refused him, not me."
Shekhar Kapur then expressed that it was a good decision by Satish Kaushik or else Aamir would not have become who he is right now. He said, "It's a good thing he was refused. Otherwise, he might not have become the actor he is today. Assistant directors don’t usually become stars."
