Directors divided on Sachin's B'wood debut
Sachin Tendulkar – The God of Cricket – marks his 38th birthday on 24th April 2011.
The cricketer is already the inspiration behind Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s film Ferrari Ki Sawari. The sportsman is a hit on field and there are many who would love to see him on the big screen. Though he doesn’t have plans to star in FKS or any other film, we get Bollywood filmmakers to pick a role they would like to cast Sachin in.
1x1 polls

Milan Luthria, who took Bollywood by storm with Once Upon A Time In Mumbai and who is now working on Dirty Picture feels that Rajesh Khanna’s role from Bawarchi will be perfect for the cricket star, “Sachin has a fetish for food, he cooks the opposition’s goose and has looked after the Indian team like his own family,” observed the director.
Jag Mundhra, who’s Naughty @ 40 will be releasing shortly, feels that Sachin will be best suited to essay roles played by Manoj Kumar. “Sachin epitomizes even temperament, right values, loyalty, and humility in spite of great achievement. In older movies, Manoj Kumar played characters like that in Upkar, Purab Aur Paschim and Roti Kapda Aur Makan. That is how today’s generation sees Sachin as Mr. Bharat,” Mundhra said.
Prem Soni, the director of Main Aur Mrs. Khanna thinks Bhuvan’s role from Lagaan will suit best on the cricketing legend. “If I had to cast Sachin in a film I would cast him as Bhuvan from Lagaan as after Aamir he will be d next best in this role. He is the best cricketer we have so imagine him making runs on screen,” Soni opined.
Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai too had an interesting role for Sachin. He said, “I will cast him in a role of a milk seller who dedicates his life to milk and becomes the owner of Amul Dairy of India and that too without any rival. He will be a great guy to watch and learn about dedication. Happy birthday Sachin.”
Talking about the role he’ll give Sachin, director Ashoke Pandit said, “Of a cricketer because this is the best he can do through his performance. He will be able to inspire people on positivity, nationalism and conviction.”
