'Duryodhan' set to make film on Palghar lynching

NEW DELHI: Actor Puneet Issar, best known for playing Duryodhana in the serial ‘Mahabharata’, will produce a movie ‘Sanghaar — The Massacre’ based on the lynching of two Juna Akhara sadhus in Palghar in April. The title song and poster of the film was released here on Thursday in the presence of former East Delhi MP Mahesh Girri, Swami Avadeshananda Giri of Juna Akhara and prominent saints.
Issar said he was pained by the sadhus’ lynching . “The film is written and directed by my son Siddhant. He will also play the lead,” he added. Siddhant said it was not a controversial but a sensitive topic. “A lot of support is there if any issue related to minorities is filmed. The industry is prone to portraying saints and sadhus in poor light,” he added. The film will be released on an OTT platform next month.
