It’s an emotional day for actress turned producer Pragya Kapoor who brings in her birthday today (June 29). The wife of filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor, and co-producer of Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan starrer Kedarnath is missing her father, Jayant K Yadav, who lost his life in May to complications related to COVID. What makes it tough for Pragya is the fact that this is her first birthday that she brought in the absence of her dad.
To make the day memorable, Pragya got herself inked and the tattoo is dedicated to her father.

The piece of art depicts a metal butterfly with a trishul as its head, which signifies life and growth in the cocoon of her father, blessed with all the love, care and guidance.

Explaining the idea behind her tattoo, Pragya told Bombay Times, “It is said that butterflies are a representation of the human soul post death. I got a metal one to symbolise the strength of my father. There is a ‘J’ that stands for his name which is Jayant, written in Devanagari, merging into a P (Pragya) on the other side. It symbolises that he lives in me now.”

The introduction of a trishul in the tattoo has quite a sensitive backstory. She elaborates saying, “The trishul is made in the shape of a fire. That’s because I was always supposed to be with my brothers to cremate him, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to. So this was my way of lighting his pyre and the fire joining his creator.”
While her father continues to remain in her heart and mind in the form of indelible memories, the tattoo is a constant reminder of his presence if not physically albeit spiritually.
