Marking their first association together as producers,
Anil Kapoor,
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and
Bhushan Kumar are all set to present 'Fanney Khan', which releases on August 3. The story revolves around a father-daughter relationship, where the daughter aspires to be a singer. The film is directed by debutant director Atul Manjrekar, who earlier assisted Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
Anil Kapoor, who makes his next outing as a producer after the success of 'Veere Di Wedding' (2018), says, “I was instantly drawn to the story of 'Fanney Khan'.
As a producer, I am in a fortunate position to be able to lend my support to stories that deserve to be told, and I can't think of a better story than this that people will relate to.”
A passionate storyteller, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has put in years of labour into developing the script after acquiring its rights. He shares, “For me, the journey of 'Fanney Khan' started nine years ago, when I saw the Belgian film, 'Everybody's Famous' (2000). Over the years, we at ROMP Pictures, especially Bharathi and Atul, have nurtured and developed the script, as we believe that the story of 'Fanney Khan', which revolves around passion, parenting and friendship, is something that needs to told to the masses."
Bhushan Kumar, a celebrated name in the music industry and also the producer of the film, was excited when he heard the story. He says, “It appealed to me at a personal level because it’s a story of a father helping his daughter achieve her dream, just the way I am fulfilling my father’s passion of making great music and films. It has a universal appeal.”
