GUWAHATI: The US consulate for the first time would observe the ''Black History Month'' in the city here with a film festival of African-American films.
Starting Wednesday, the three-day event would feature a film festival, roundtable discussions and several lecture presentations, American Center director Rex Moser told a press conference here.
The Black History Month, also called the African-American history month, is celebrated every February in the US and other parts of the world, he said.
''African Americans in Hollywood'' has been chosen the theme of the film festival to be organised in the Rabindra Bhaban here presenting a package of five famous movies, Moser said.
Later in the evening the festival would start with Spike Lee''s
Malcolm X
, he said.
The American center director will address students and Rotarians on ''Current Issues in US Foreign Policy''.
