Filmmaker Mani Shankar’s son was arrested in Hyderabad after he allegedly obstructed police officials and assaulted a home guard in a road accident. The arrest took place on Wednesday, a few days after the argument that reportedly caused traffic congestion in the city.

What happened?

It is reported that Mani Shankar’s son, Prem Shankar, was driving his electric vehicle within the limits of the Banjara Hills Police Station. What happened was that Prem Shankar’s car reportedly ran out of battery on a busy road. This led to a commotion on the road. The car stopped near a junction on Road No. 2 in the area. Since the car later began blocking the road with traffic. Due to the congestin a woman constable and a home guard reached the spot to manage the situation. However, Prem Shankar allegedly refused to cooperate as per a PTI report. This led to a situation where he did not allow the police officer to shift the vehicle. Later, the constable and the home guard tried to convince him that he allegedly pushed away. This delayed the clearing of traffic on the road.

Argument with police officials

The police later managed to get him out of the car. After that, the vehicle was shifted from the road to restore the traffic flow. However, Prem Shankar reportedly left the scene soon after authorities removed the vehicle. The police then reportedly registered a case against him under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for obstructing public servants while performing their duty and for assault. Following an investigation, the police arrested Prem Shankar on Wednesday. Officials confirmed that further legal procedures are underway.For those unfamiliar, Mani Shankar is a well-known filmmaker born in Hyderabad. He has worked as a director, screenwriter, and editor in Hindi cinema for many years.
