Giorgia Andriani: We once again failed as humans in a lowest of the low ways possible

In yet another heinous crime, a 19-year-old Dalit woman who was allegedly gang-raped by four upper-caste men in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras village succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday morning. Bollywood celebrities have expressed shock over the alleged brutal gang rape of a teenager in Hathras. B-Towners also voiced protest against the alleged cremation of the victim by the police without consent of her family early on Wednesday.
Bollywood actress Giorgia Andriani said, "In this moment as I learn about Manisha Valmiki’s brutal death, I feel a void in my stomach. We once again failed as humans in a lowest of the low ways possible. While as an unknown person to Manisha, I feel the ground breaking under my feet, my thought goes to her parents and how they must be feeling now that nothing in the world will ever change what happened to their daughter and the modality in which she’s been forced to leave this world. If after this viscerally unacceptable misdeed laws upon sex offenders won’t be executed as they should, it will be like killing Manisha 1000 more times. #RIPmanishavalmiki #JUSTICEforMANISHAVALMIKI."
