There is a lot of buzz around Shonali Bose's new film 'The Sky Is Pink', starring Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar, which is set to release in October. It is based on a young woman, whose relationship is affected with her parents is affected when she is diagnosed with a terminal illness. While the film is based on a real person, Ayesha Chaudhary, she says that the death of her son and the subsequent disintegration also drew her to make the film.

In an interview with an international magazine, the filmmaker goes on to reveal that Ayesha had seen the trailer of her previous film 'Margarita With A Straw' 30 times. She hoped see the the film when it releases, however she passed away without seeing it. Her parents watched the film when it released four months later and saw that the filmmaker had dedicated it to her son Ishaan. They tracked her down in six months later in Los Angeles. On meeting her, Ayesha’s mother said that she wanted only one filmmaker in the world to tell her child's story.
Shonali reportedly said that 80% per cent of marriages end with the loss of child, but she on meeting Ayesha's parents she wanted to explore their love story - a couple who fell in love at 16 and were still together at 53, after having lost their child. Farhan and Priyanka play parents of the terminally ill child, played by Zaira Wasim.
