doweshowbellyad=0; Aslam Khan (TOI Photo) Sometimes, life really takes unexpected turns and you end up becoming somebody you had never imagined. And it can well be for the better. That seems to be the case with Aslam Khan, who did the successful Nayee Padosan and also in Dil Bechara Pyaar Ka Maara, another comedy.I never wanted to become an actor.
I had done my management course in marketing and had a good job, he avers. But it seems he was destined to become an actor. Aslam was the brand ambassador for a major soft drink company for two years and also done around 25 TV commercials. He was contemplating about taking up acting while doing his job and after thinking for about 15 days, I put in my papers and decided to pursue acting, he says.
So why hasn't he been seen on the big screen in a while? I didn't want to do anything that didn't make sense. So, I waited for the right films to come along, explains Aslam. He will soon be seen in Rafoochakkar-Fun on the run, where he plays a spoiled son out to enjoy life who gets stuck in an awkward situation. He says that it is a very good comedy, better than even Nayee Padosan. Besides, he is also shooting for Jack N Jhol. Life at the moment is hectic for Aslam but he isnt complaining when he says, Its better to be busy when you are an actor than sitting at home and doing nothing. So what kind of a person is he in real life? I am very ambitious and hardworking. In fact, I am a go-getter and very practical, he answers. Watching movies happens to be his passion as he describes. While talking about professional values he says, I think everybody should have morals in life and stick by them. Also, you must respect what others do rather than being judgmental. Aslam who believes that critical acclaim is important admits to the fact that box-office success is more crucial. After all, people in the film fraternity as well as the public tend to recognise you if you are part of successful projects, he says. While Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Farhan Akhtar, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Abbas-Mustan constitute his wish-list of directors to work with, Aamir Khan seems to have a special place. He explains, Aamir is a genius and I would love to work with him in any capacity, he signs off.
