Imtiaz Ali and Diljit Dosanjh join for a new love story; shoot begins in Punjab

Following the massive success of ‘Amar Singh Chamkila,’ a new film is set to bring together Imtiaz Ali and Diljit Dosanjh once again, according to reports. The movie will feature a talented cast, including Diljit, Vedang Raina, Sharvari, and Naseeruddin Shah, to bring Ali’s vision to the screen. The project will also mark the reunion of the renowned creative team A.R. Rahman, Irshad Kamil, and Imtiaz Ali, who have delivered some of Indian cinema’s most memorable music.

Exciting cinematic journey in Punjab

According to News18, the untitled movie aims to deliver a thrilling cinematic journey. After wrapping up the shoot in Mumbai last month, the cast and crew have now headed to Punjab to begin their next shooting schedule.



Imtiaz Ali shares insights on the film.

Reported by the same publication, Imtiaz shared, “Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone’s heart? This is a film that I feel fortunate to be working on. It’s about what is left with us when everything else is lost. The love that refuses to be left behind guides us through the highs and lows of life and remains the everlasting song on our lips and smile in our hearts. The film has a large canvas, yet is very personal. It is a story of a boy and a girl, but also a country. Diljit Dosanjh’s previous collaboration with Imtiaz Ali

Earlier, Diljit Dosanjh had teamed up with Imtiaz Ali for ‘Amar Singh Chamkila,’ which was released on Netflix on April 12, 2024. The film portrays the life of Chamkila, who rose from a Dalit Sikh family in Punjab, frustrated with factory work, to become a sensational singer known for his bold songs about love and defiance. It chronicles his swift ascent and untimely death at 27. The movie was met with widespread acclaim, and Diljit has now been nominated for Best Actor at the International Emmy Awards 2025.
