<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">KOLKATA: Cinema enthusiasts in the city will have a feast on great works in world cinema as apart from the 8th Kolkata Film Festival, the premier movie club, Cine Central, is also organising a week-long film jamboree that is offering celluloid greats.<br />The package entitled ''International Forum of New Cinema'' will be inaugurated on November 10 as part of the 8th Kolkata Film Festival where cineastes can see 65 great works from 25 countries.<br />Announcing this here on Friday, the Cine Central General Secretary, Alok Chandra Chandra, said the ''International Forum of New Cinema'' would be formally inaugurated by the Rabindra Sangeet exponent Suchitra Mitra, while award wining Bengali feature film <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Hemanter Pakhi</span> (Autumn Bird), directed by Urmi Chakraborty, would be screened as the inaugural film.<br />Eminent director Mrinal Sen would grace the inaugural function as guest-in-chief.
<br />As part of the festival Cine Central-Calcutta would present ''Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award'' to the great actor Soumitra Chatterjee for his profound contribution to Indian cinema, Chandra said.<br />He said that the main section of world cinema would include films from Belgium, Canada, China, Croatia, Finland, Iceland, India, Iran, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, UK and Vietnam. <br />The major highlight of the festival is ''Spotlight on Japanese Cinema, Past and Present'' which included eight important and internationally acclaimed films of different decades.<br />A retrospective of Doron Eran, renowned producer and director of Israel, would include his five major films, while Eran along with another Israeli film producer M Bregman would participate the festival.<br />The society would simultaneously organise the festival Burdwan and Bolpur this time, Chandra said. </div> </div>
