Tusshar Kapoor talking about his book on embracing fatherhood. Tusshar, known for films like the Golmaal series, Shootout at Wadala and The Dirty Picture, had opted for surrogacy and became a parent to now six-year-old Laksshya in 2016.
During the session at DLF, the actor spoke about his doubts on being a single parent and how his family supported him in the decision.
Speaking about the difficulties he faced as a single parent, Tusshar said, “It’s as easy or as difficult for any parent. The trick is to become a good parent. It’s challenging but ultimately it’s a joy. You get that satisfaction to fulfill all those challenges after becoming a parent.”
The actor also talked about how he was doubting his own decision to be a father and how he broke the news to his parents

Shobha Kapoor, who supported him wholeheartedly in his plans to be a dad. "I was way too worried and had put so much thought before taking the decision of becoming a single parent. In the end, I listened to my heart.
Tusshar went on to add, “When I completed the entire process of IVF and the process of surrogacy started, after that I had a deep discussion with my family. My mother was surprised but very supportive of my decision. She said that she and my father will be mere grandparents, but I’ll be the one who’ll have to take the entire charge and it’ll be life-changing. I must say that.”
Sharing the memories of when his son was to be born, Tusshar recounted how he had been so excited. "After all the processes were complete, my excitement level was at its peak, and so I went shopping for my unborn child. I even bought unisex clothes as the sex of my child was unknown. The night on June 1, 2016 was one of the most memorable nights of my life as I finally became a dad.”
