Jaideep Ahlawat prefers depth in roles; Actor skips one-dimensional parts; Looks for complexity even in simple characters
Jaideep Ahlawat continues to stand out for his thoughtful approach to acting. The versatile performer recently opened up about his dislike for straightforward roles. In a recent interview, he stressed the importance of adding depth to bring characters alive on screen.

Jaideep Ahlawat seeks complexity beyond basic roles

In the interview with PTI, Jaideep Ahlawat makes it clear that he finds little enjoyment in flat portrayals. He actively chooses projects where characters offer more than surface-level traits. Even when a part seems ordinary, he works to inject extra elements that make it feel real.

Jaideep Ahlawat's preference for layered performances

The actor explained his process of building characters during the interaction. He noted that extra dimensions turn any role into something more engaging to perform. “I’ve not got to play a vanilla character yet. I feel when the character has more layers then it becomes much more interesting to essay that role, as compared to single dimensional character. So, if there aren’t any layers, I try to put elements or layers in a character to make it look believable as an actor," the actor told PTI in an interview.“The emotion with which the character is written must be conveyed so that the story makes sense; otherwise, it becomes flat.
As an actor, I feel the more layering in a character, be it positive or negative character, then it will be fun to play such a part," he said.

Strong filmography from Gangs Of Wasseypur to 'Raees'

Jaideep Ahlawat recently appeared in a brief role in Sudip Sharma’s 'Kohrra 2'.
