Janhvi Kapoor’s latest release, Bawaal, is a love story. It stars
Varun Dhawan opposite the actress and shows them as a newlywed couple who goes on a honeymoon only to face a troubled relationship, with references of World War II. As they shot for the war sequences at real locations in Europe, Janhvi who loves history had an exciting time.
She said, “I have always been fascinated and invested in history in general.
And when it comes to World War II, I spent a lot of time in high school studying it. I have watched every World War II movie. I was fascinated to the point that when I sat through the narration, it only got me so excited. It plays such an important role in our film. The geek in me was very spellbound through the shoot.”
Janhvi shares that though war sequences are a part of the film, largely, the
Nitesh Tiwari directorial is a love story. She elaborates saying, “When I heard the script it felt like a simple story. It is all woven into the narrative beautifully. You won’t feel suddenly movie mein Hitler kaha se aaya. Overall, Bawaal is a very real, relatable and sensitive film.”
The trailer shows glimpses of the leader of Nazi Party, Adolf Hitler. Ask Janhvi, about the experience of revisiting that side of history and she says, “The man is a monster. He is just too catastrophic. Hitler’s name is still so impactful even after so many years because of the horrible things he did.”
