His date diary is chock-a-block with shooting schedules.

He has six movies in hand, but John Abraham has his feet firmly planted on terra firma.
But talk about his latest movie -- Vikram Bhatt’s Saaya -- and the man exudes excitement.

‘‘Saaya deals with loss, emotions and internal love,’’ explains John, ‘‘Contrary to what most people believe, the basic idea behind Saaya is not to scare the audience, but to drive home the message that one might lose someone, but internal love lives forever.’’

There is an air of confidence in the voice. And it all began with Jism. Still basking in the success of his first major hit, John makes no secret of the fact that Jism has worked wonders for his celluloid career. ‘‘By God’s grace, I have managed a positive response, but this is not to say that I am not planning to go a step further with Saaya,’’ he says, ‘‘I expect Saaya to do well, not because I feature in the film, but because it is a sensible product. I play a young Delhi-based doctor in the film.’’ Which brings us to his new heroine Tara Sharma. ‘‘She was very cooperative on the sets and is just brilliant as an actress. I certainly enjoyed working with her.’’

The Mr Cool Guy of modelling has become hot property on the film circuit. Not least of all because acceptance by the audience has earned him a string of assignments. ‘‘Coming up are Aitbaar with Amitabh Bachchan and Bipasha Basu; Ahmed Khan’s untitled film with Sunny Deol and Sunil Shetty; and Pooja Bhatt’s Paap,’’ he informs, ‘‘I love doing all kinds of roles -- roles which both I and the audience can identify with.’’

From movies to modelling. Two different worlds. But John is more than eager to make a double impact. ‘‘But if I do walk the fashion runway again, it will be as an actor,’’ he maintains, ‘‘Let’s face it. Financially, it makes more sense for me to be an actor rather than just a model.’’ A wise head on young shoulders. John Abraham means business. And that’s what it takes to hit the bull’s-eye at the box-office.
