Recently the makers of the
Kangana Ranaut starrer
Jayalalithaa's biopic 'Thalaivi' released a first look teaser of the film and it is receiving mixed reactions from the audience as well as the critics. However, as per the latest updates, the film has now landed itself in a legal trouble.
According to a report in Filmfare, in the month of November Jayalalithaa’s niece, J. Deepa had moved to the
Madras High Court filing a lawsuit against the makers of the film.
She stated that she is the legal heir of the late politician and that the makers of the film should have contacted her before making a film or a web series on her life. The makers of Kangana's film have no legal rights to make a film on Jayalalithaa's life which may affect her aunt’s and her family’s privacy. Deepa has also demanded that the entire script be submitted to her before the film goes on the floors.
On Tuesday, Madras High Court granted permission to Jaya's niece to take legal action against director AL Vijay and producer Vishnu of the film. Also, a notice will be sent to
Gautham Menon who is planning to make a web series on the life of Jayalalithaa.
Meanwhile, the film which is produced by Vishnu Induri and Shaailesh R Singh is slated to release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on June 26, 2020
