Choreographer reveals how Katrina Kaif transformed from having 'no rhythm' to belting out iconic Bollywood dance hits

Katrina Kaif is known in the Bollywood industry for her impeccable dancing skills. She has delivered some iconic dance numbers like ‘Chikni Chameli’, ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’, ‘Afghan Jalebi’, ‘Kamli’, 'Kala Chashma' over the years, showcasing her top-notch skills in dance. However, choreographer Terence Lewis in a recent conversation, revealed that those impressive moves were the outcome of a lot of hard work and effort.Speaking to Pinkvilla, Lewis revealed that Katrina initially struggled at maintaining rhythm and body fluidity while dancing. He recalled working with her in her early career and mentioned that even though the choreography was more western, she struggled and seemed unaware of the expectations, stating specifically, “Rhythm was not there”.However, five years down the line, Terence was amazed by Katrina’s dancing in the hit song ‘Zarqa Zara Touch Me’ from the movie ‘Race’.He recollects excitedly calling Bosco, the choreographer of the song, and asking, "Bossy, tune kya kar Diya (What have you done)?’" to which the choreographer praised Katrina’s dedication and hard work. Lewis further acknowledged her amazing transformation in songs like ‘Chikni Chameli,’ emphasizing that "That girl has worked hard— that’s a great story."He further acknowledged that she wasn’t a trained dancer and her physique was tall and statuesque also posed a concern in terms of dancing. He commended her remarkable dedication to transforming her body and dance skills, calling it "commendable."Recently, Kaif was last seen in the romantic thriller ‘Merry Christmas’ alongside Vijay Sethupathi.
