'Lahore 1947': Sunny Deol and Aamir Khan starrer to release on Independence Day 2026 weekend

The versatile stars Sunny Deol and Aamir Khan are all set for the highly anticipated film 'Lahore 1947'. According to the latest press release, the film now has a release date, backed by Aamir Khan productions and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, this historical drama will hit the big screen on August 13, 2026.The film marks a significant first-time collaboration between Sunny Deol, filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, and producer Aamir Khan. Speaking about the project, Aamir Khan shared, “This was one of the favourite scripts of Dharamji, and I am so glad he could see the film.” Featuring Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, and Karan Deol, 'Lahore 1947' boasts a powerhouse creative team with A.R. Rahman composed the music and Javed Akhtar penned the lyrics.Sunny Deol has once again shown his strong hold over patriotic cinema. After the massive success of 'Gadar 2' during the Independence Day 2023 weekend 'Border 2' has delivered another big extended holiday performance. 'Border 2' stars Sunny Deol along with Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. The film is directed by Anurag Singh.According to the Sacnilk report, Sunny Deol's war movie had an overall 21.15% Hindi occupancy on Sunday, February 08, 2026.On Day 18, the movie has earned just Rs 0.1 crore. With that the total collection of the movie is now Rs 309.5 crore in India. Meanwhile, as per the report, the worldwide box office collection of 'Border 2' is Rs 422.35 crore.
