Mandarr Kaadam: Rudransh aims to explore the untold chapters of the Maratha Empire

Filmmaker Mandarr Kaadam is set to bring Maratha history to the big screen with Rudransh: Legacy of a Great King, a historical epic that has spent five years in research and development before entering production. Produced under the banner of OthBrok Production, the film explores lesser-known chapters of the Maratha Empire through extensive historical research and authentic storytelling. Kaadam revealed that the development process involved studying manuscripts, regional records, royal correspondence, battlefield references and oral traditions passed down through generations.“Five years of research is not a delay. It is the film,” says Kaadam, who serves as the writer, director and producer of the project. Unlike many large-scale period dramas that focus primarily on spectacle, Rudransh delves into themes of legacy, loyalty, political intrigue, warfare and the human cost of power. The makers claim that its key narrative threads are rooted in documented historical references rather than fictional interpretations.“We are not just retelling history; we are unravelling parts of it. There are stories connected to the Maratha legacy that deserve to be explored with sincerity and respect,” Kaadam said. A fine arts graduate from Kolhapur, Kaadam has drawn on his artistic background to shape the film’s visual language and storytelling. With production now underway, announcements regarding the cast and creative team are expected soon.
