'Mississippi Masala' actor Ranjit Chowdhry passes away at 64

Actor Ranjit Chowdhry who is known for Mira Nair's 'Mississippi Masala' starring Denzel Washington has passed away at the age of 64.

Actor Ranjit Chowdhry who is known for Mira Nair's 'Mississippi Masala' starring Denzel Washington has passed away at the age of 64.

His half-sister Raell Padamsee confirmed the same through a social media post. According to the post, the actor took his last breath on April 15. She wrote, "For all those who knew Ranjit, the funeral will be held tomorrow and a gathering to celebrate his life n share his stories on May 5th.

For the unversed, Ranjit Chowdhry started his career with 'Khatta Meetha' (1978) which starred his mother Pearl Padamsee. He went to entertain the audience in the films like 'Baton Baton Mein', 'Khubsoorat' and 'Kaalia'. In 1990, he featured in an international film 'Lonely in America'.
He has starred in crossover movies like Mira Nair's 'Mississippi Masala', 'Fire', 'Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love', 'Such a Long Journey', 'Bollywood / Hollywood' and 'Breakaway'.
He also played a role in Sanjay Gupta's 'Kaante'.
