‘My daughters are truly my soulmates’

On Daughter’s Day today, TOI spoke to actor Lillete Dubey who has found her best friends in her daughters and says that they are the best things in the world for her.
‘My daughters are truly my soulmates’
Talking about her daughters Neha and Ira, actor Lillete Dubey seems to have a sudden sparkle in her eye which is very different from how we see her on the screen.
She flashes a big smile and says, I always tell everybody that if I had to put everything in my life on a weighing scale I will put all my achievements on one side and put my daughters Neha and Ira on the other, and still my daughters will outweigh everything else.
Indeed, its not hard to get Lillete talking on her girls even as she says in her true spontaneous style, They are the people who always keep me grounded.

They are the most beautiful and important people in my life. My daughters are truly my soulmates. They have always understood my passion about acting. I would say they are the fabric of my life. They have changed me in every way. Both of them are the centre of my existence. My daughters have made me understand the beauty of having children and the importance of having a family. They are a mirror of what I am today. They never fail to tell me the truth about whatever I do.
Lillete feels that her daughters have given her the most important gift in life friendship. I see other children and feel that friendship is the most precious thing they have ever gifted me with. Not all the people are so lucky to have their children who are friends. And the relationship that women share among themselves is unique. Has it ever bothered her to have two daughters in a society that is still so hung up on a male child? You know after I had a daughter, the second time I was having a baby, I wanted it to be a son, not for any other reason but just that I could have both a boy and girl. But today after I have two daughters, I can say that I have never missed not having a son.
On the occasion of Daughters Day, Lillete seemed to have a lot to say to her daughters. I would like to tell them that they should make themselves a complete human being and have a fulfiling life. Its always thought that marriage is the ultimate goal for a girl but I would tell them that they should be so complete that they should be happy in themselves. You should get joy out of your own life. Anything else that comes your way is a bonus, she says.
