Actor Nana Patekar surprises his crew with his culinary skills while shooting at Wai When tough guy Nana Patekar decided to don the chef’s hat and treat the crew to some lip smacking seafood, while shooting on the sets of Malamaal Weekly directed by
Priyadarshan, everyone was left licking their fingers. The entire team has now become a fan of Nana’s cooking. PT caught up with the actor to know more…
We got to know you personally cooked a fish meal on the sets. It was a special dish which I learnt from my mum which takes about four hours to cook properly. I also used a special masala made of 42 ingredients that lend the dish a unique taste. I always carry it with me wherever and whenever I shoot.
Have you always been interested in cooking? Yes, I remember as a child, I would potter around my mother in the kitchen and want to participate in everything she was doing. I have learnt most of my cooking from her. I also used to irritate her with a lot of questions. Generally, it is the girls in the house who take part in things like this, but I guess having no sister, it was me who played that part in our house.
So, what all do you cook? I cook anything, be it vegetarian or non-vegetarian. But mutton dishes are my favourite.
Any fav eating joint in Pune? I don’t like eating outside food at all. I do it only if there is absolutely no choice. Whenever I have a party at home and even if there are 25 people coming, I make it a point to cook everything at home and I don’t get any stuff from outside.
Do you cook at home for your family? I have spoilt them with my cooking skills.
Watching your homely side is a tad funny for us as we have always seen you as a tough guy… (Laughs) I make people eat first and then hit them…
This is your next comedy after Welcome, could you tell us something about your role in Malamaal Weekly My character is a mysterious one that hardly speaks a sentence but only words. I am sure it’s going to tickle the funny bone of the audience.
We are longing to see you in your angry avatar for a long time now… I have just finished shooting for Ab Tak Chappan 2
So is that what kept you busy for the past two years… I have about seven projects in my kitty, so just wait and watch.
