Excerpts from an interview
Youll be seen on the big screen after a long gap. Where were you all this while?I was home reading scripts, rejecting them and then reading some more. Honestly, no producer or director came up with a script that excited me. There was hardly anything for me to do in those films. Then RGV offered me Agyaat and I took it up immediately.
Why do you prefer working only in RGV films?Well, I did do a film outside RGVs banner. I took up Killer with Emraan Hashmi because I thought the role and script were good. But apart from that, I havent been offered anything substantial. Its not that Im not open to other offers. But what can I do if the roles dont appeal to me? I just dont want to do films where my role will be reduced to that of a bimbo. Im young and Id rather wait for a good film, than do something inconsequential.
So what appealed to you about this film? The first thing that struck me was the concept. Its a film within a film. In the movie I play an actor who goes to the jungles to shoot with her film crew. There is a lot of scope for an actor to emote in such a movie. Imagine playing an actor who is also a victim of an unknown force that is killing her crew one by one. I guess every actor would love to do a role like this.
This is your first horror film...Im really excited to be doing a film in this genre. And who better to direct the movie than RGV? I wouldnt want to call it just a horror film. To me, its much more than that. Its also a very special film for me, because we shot in the jungles of Sri Lanka under difficult conditions.
Youve always flaunted a great body. Is there pressure from Bollywood to go the Priyanka and Kareena way?Right from my first film, I have flaunted a great body. I do have a slim body frame, but in no way am I a size zero. I work out and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I have curves that I can flaunt. You will not find me starving myself and fainting.
Are there any career decisions that you regret?Regret kar ke kya hoga? I make my own choices. Once those decisions are taken you cant back out. I have made decisions in life that didnt go my way. Ive learnt to live with them. Im not the kind to cry over failure. But the real challenge is to bounce back after failure bogs you down. Im working hard to convert those brickbats into accolades.
