Noted Marathi writer Vasant Potdar dies

NASIK: Noted Marathi writer and stage actor Vasant Govind Potdar, died at a private nursing home here on Wednesday morning following a heart attack, family sources said.

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">NASIK: Noted Marathi writer and stage actor Vasant Govind Potdar, died at a private nursing home here on Wednesday morning following a heart attack, family sources said. <br /><br />Potdar, 65, is survived by wife, son and daughter. <br /><br />He was in hospital for a traction when he had the heart attack, the sources said.<br /><br />Born on November 20, 1939 at Ashti in Marathwada''s Osmanabad district, Potdar was a supervisor in a school there, before settling in Nasik.<br /><br />He has to his credit several books including <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Yoddha Sanyasi </span>-- on the life of Swami Vivekanand, <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Eka Purushottamachi Gatha</span> -- on P L Deshpande and <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Tochi Sadhu Olakhava</span> -- on the life of Gadge Maharaj.

<br /><br />His other literary contributions are <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Agni Putra</span>, <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Bhimsen</span>, <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Anil Vishvas</span> and <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">1901</span>.<br /><br />Potdar''s solo-performance <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Akrandan Eka Atmyache</span> (a cry of a soul) also was very popular.<br /><br />His body will be donated to a local medical college as per his wish, they added. </div> </div>
