Recently, Rajnikanth blockbuster Sivaji-The Boss became the first Tamil movie to jump on this novel tech bandwagon.
‘Hungama Mobile’ has provided Sivaji content across 33 countries with more than 70 operators and partners. The company has also made available the mobile content of the movie across various spectrums such as games, images, videos and ringtones. A unique 'picture book' consisting of Rajnikanth's images from the movie along with a one-line trivia around it has been created for viewers' delight. The picture book consists of about eight different images within one java application with an option of zooming in on the images.
Interesting trivia subscription pack on various aspects of Sivaji and Rajnikanth is also available on mobiles. Reports suggest that Sivaji has already created a record of sorts by getting around 50, 000 monotone download requests per day, which is the highest ever record for any movie. The ringtones and the trailers of the movie were made available on mobile even before their actual launch. In markets such as Malaysia, Singapore, US and Germany, the Tamil audience has a huge preference for the digital content compared to traditional content formats. Rajnikanth has a phenomenal fan base- examples of which are some 35,000 fan clubs in Chennai alone. Over the years, his popularity has crossed boundaries, even to non-Hindi speaking countries like Japan. The Tamil superstar has truly emerged as 'the man with a global appeal' and one of the most popular actors in the world.
