Nushrat Bharucha: Today, I want to be loved by the masses

Nushrat Bharucha on how she did commercial cinema by chance
Nushrat Bharucha: Today, I want to be loved by the masses
Even as she is high on the success of this year’s hit, 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety', Nushrat Bharucha insists that commercial cinema was never part of her career plan.
Harking back to the time when she had done Dibakar Banerjee’s 'Love, Sex Aur Dhokha' (LSD, 2010), the actress says, “I wanted to do films, because I loved certain stories. I wanted to be part of a movie like LSD. 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' (PKP, 2011) happened to me by chance.

I remember meeting Luv (Ranjan, director) sir and telling him that PKP is not my thing. He told me that if I have another offer, I should go ahead with it. At that time, I didn’t have another film, and I did PKP on a lark. Suddenly, I was thrown into the zone of commercial cinema.” She adds, “I understood that massy films have the kind of power, which off-beat films take longer to achieve. I want to ensure that I strike a balance between all kinds of films. Today, I want to be loved by the masses, enjoy box-office success and have a successful career.”
