NOIDA: Karni Sena's Uttar Pradesh unit chief Thakur Karan Singh was arrested by the police over charges of vandalism during protests against Bollywood movie 'Padmaavati' in Noida and Greater Noida.

Amit Kishore Shrivastava, circle officer, Greater Noida I, said that Singh played an active role in mobilising people during protests in the region on Sunday.
“The protesters had created ruckus at different places in the twin cities. They also vandalised the DND toll plaza in Noida on Sunday. Singh was wanted in a case for rioting, disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant, criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty, mischief causing damage, etc under Sections 147, 148, 188, 283, 353, 427 of IPC,” he said.
The police had received information about his movement in the area on Thursday. A police team reached the spot and arrested him. Shrivastava said that the accused will be produced in court and will be sent to judicial custody.
