Radhika Apte has been winning praises for her performance in 'Phobia' and now the actress has apparently bagged
Madhur Bhandarkar's ambitious next film titled, 'Main, Indu'. As per reports, the movie, which will be set in the Emergency Era (June 25, 1975 to March, 21 1977), will apparently revolve around the life of a poetess who rebels against the system.
A report says that if sources are to be believed, Anushka Sharma was one of the front runners to play the lead, but ultimately it was Radhika who bagged the role.
'Radhika is almost on board to play the lead in Madhur's film. She is a brilliant actress and the makers feel she will be able to do justice to the role. She will be essaying the role of the protagonist in this women-oriented drama,' a source was quoted as saying in the report.
It is reported that the film has no direct reference to the late Indira Gandhi. Madhur has reportedly started his research and is meeting senior political leaders who saw the dark days of Emergency. The director also met Subramanian Swamy recently, and is believed to have exchanged notes on Emergency with him.
