Raj Kummar Rao attends 67th Berlin International Film Festival where his upcoming film 'Newton' will be premiered

Minutes after landing in Berlin on Thursday at around 4 pm IST, Raj Kummar Rao admitted that it's really cold in the German capital. "But being the opening day of the 67th Berlin International Film Festival, the vibe is amazing. I smell cinema on the streets, there are so many maverick artistes and filmmakers from all over the world here," rhapsodises the actor whose upcoming film, Amit V Masurkar's black comedy 'Newton', will have its world premiere at Berlinale today in the 'International Forum of New Cinema' section, followed by a couple more screenings.

Raj, who couldn't make it to the 63rd Berlinale in 2013 for the world premiere of Abhishek Kapoor's 'Kai Po Che!', is looking forward to walking the red carpet this time, watching some great films and interacting with international filmmakers and actors. "My stylist, Devki, who's in the US, has put together some amazing designer wear for me, from suits to bandhgalas. I'll be in Berlin for 10 days and from there I may go to Amsterdam for an extended holiday," he informs.
'Newton' is set in the forests of Chhattisgarh and revolves around a rookie government employee trying to conduct fair elections in what was once a Maoist territory and still has some Maoist presence.
Soon after his return to the Bay, Raj will start work on Anubhav Sinha's wife, Ratna's directorial debut 'Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana' which revolves around a wedding and features 'Raaz Reboot' girl Kriti Kharbanda. The film is another of those small town love stories like 'Behen Hogi Teri' and 'Bareilly Ki Barfi' which Raj has been busy with lately and will be shot in one schedule across UP, in places like Allahabad and Kanpur. "Life is complicated when you're at a particular age when ambitions come in the way of love," he says.
Is his own love story with Patralekhaa headed towards the mandap? He laughs, "Love is beautiful but both of us are busy with our respective careers and have never thought of marriage."
