“I hate the tag of being called a producer’s son and now, it’s time to give back my father what he has done for me,” says actor Jackky Bhagnani, who was in Jaipur recently to promote his movie FALTU.
Amidst all the people jostling around him, wanting to shake hands, get his autograph, et al, he got talking to JT about success, failures, cricket and much more. The actor is happy with the audiences response to the movie and he feels that until Thursday, 90% people felt that he is Faltu, but now the worldview is changing.

What Abhishek Bachchan did for Dilli 6, Jackky did something similar ,though unknowingly, as as he covered six cities in a day – Bangalore, Chandigarh, Delhi, Lucknow, Kanpur, and Jaipur. Read on!
Game lost out to FALTU, both in terms of its content and publicity. How does that make you feel?
Of course, I am happy in a way but also sad because I believe that all films should do well. For all you know, my first film “Kal Kissne Dekha” didn’t work and no one even noticed me. And I feel that everything comes back to you so I am both, happy and sad. Plus, I still need to come to terms with the success of the movie and then, I am going to do some crazy things.
Like “pappu can’t dance saala”, your song “char baj gaye lekin party abhi baaki hain” is a rage amid the youth, so does that make you feel proud as you’re an intrinsic part of it?
I was watching the World Cup match in the stadium and when India won, people starting singing “char baj gaye lekin party abhi baaki hain” and I felt overwhelmed. What’s better than the nation winning the World Cup after 28 years and people dancing to my song? It feels superb. It’s my song and I feel proud.

This is Remo D’Souza’s maiden directorial venture in Bollywood but we all know that he is a choreographer first, so did it for once make you nervous for the choreography of the movie?
(laughs) The only thing which was appreciated in my debut movie was my dancing. So, on the dancing front, I have always been safe and secure. For the script, I feel that 80% of the people in the world are made to feel Faltu and so, it’s an amazing script as I feel that it is very important to connect to the audience and the script of FALTU makes you connect to them. I remember this one guy in Pune who just came and hugged me saying that I felt so faltu as I always scored 35% in school and college but now, I am a chartered accountant.
Your take on Anna Hazare?
I support Anna Hazare for his noble endeavor. Although, I am not saying that the government is wrong but Anna Hazare should be heard. As an actor, I am supporting him on the social networking sites and I will be happy if I can generate even 50 people to join the movement and support the man.
You are a cricket-fanatic, so how was the feeling when India won the World Cup final?
It was crazy and I was going mad in the stadium. It was absolute madness after Dhoni hit that winning shot. While going back home from the stadium, it was even crazier as people were singing “char baj gaye lekin party abhi baaki hain” on the roads.
Which team(s) are you supporting in the IPL?
Well, I support three teams in the IPL-- Mumbai Indians for it’s my hometown, Rajasthan Royals as it is owned by my friend Raj Kundra and Kochi Tuskers Kerala also for a friend. Raj Kundra is like a brother to me and I will be going to watch the match in Jaipur. (smiles) Raj has already made my RR jersey with my name on it.
