Bollywood actress
Rani Mukerji recently took a trip down memory lane to revisit her journey in showbiz. The actress revealed how in the early days of her career, before entering Bollywood she was insecure about certain things -- She used to believe that she was ‘quite short’ and her voice was ‘not heroine-friendly.’
In an interview with India Today, the actress shared that she didn’t want to be an actor initially.
She revealed that her mother realised her dream before she could, and that she was the the one who insisted that
Rani sign her first film.
Rani then went on to open up saying how she ‘never thought’ that she’d ‘fit into the heroine category in the typical sense’. ‘I am actually the opposite of a heroine. I am quite short in height, my voice is not heroine-friendly, the complexion of my skin is wheatish’ shared Rani.
She further added how
Kamal Haasan helped and inspired her to overcome these insecurities. As her journey began, Rani spoke with many stalwarts with whom she had the opportunity to work.
“One of them was Mr Kamal Haasan and actors like him told me that you can’t measure your success by the height of your physical standing, but by the heights of how much you can grow professionally.” That’s when Rani made sure to break all those stereotypical conventions of an actress which was put into her mind in the initial days of Bollywood journey.”
