Ruckus at Akshay and Tiger’s Lucknow event

A public event of Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff to promote their latest film in Lucknow ended in a ruckus. The two actors were promoting their film at the Clock Tower in the Hussainabad area of Chowk, Lucknow, on Monday evening. A large crowd had gathered at the venue to watch the two actors perform stunts at the event. Akshay and Tiger made a dramatic entry at the event hanging from drones suspended by wires and interacted with the crowd, comprising not just young men, but old women and children too.

Trouble started when Akshay threw in T-shirts among the crowd.As soon as he tossed the T-shirts, there was a clamour to grab them and the crowd broke the iron barricades to get onto the stage. A large force of Lucknow Police and Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) that was present at the venue, had to resort to a lathi charge to disperse the crowd and also prevent them from getting onto the stage.

In the melee, someone also tossed a stone on the stage narrowly missing Akshay Kumar. Surya Pal Gangwar, district magistrate, Lucknow, was also present on stage when the incident occured.

Talking to us, Shri Kant Rai, the Station Officer of the Thakurganj Police Station, under which the Hussainabad area falls, said, “It wasn’t exactly a lathi charge but yes the crowd had broken the barricade and was trying to get onto the stage so we had to use batons to push them back.”

Anand Krishna, the local event manager and PR, said, “There was a huge crowd and they had broken the barricade when Akshay sir started throwing the T-shirts, so the police had to disperse them using some force.” The event which lasted for around half-an-hour, was quickly wrapped up post the lathi charge with both actors leaving the location amid tight security.
