At a recent talk held at the International Film Festival of India in Goa Janhvi Kapoor touched everyone's hearts with a poem she had written for her late actress mother Sridevi.
"Bachi thi phir achanak
ek din woh haq kho diya
Jo lad mang ti thi
ab usse mooh mod liya
Apni awaaz kho ke
Apne maa ki awaaz mein baat karti hoon
Issi zariye mein unko apne pass bhi rakhti hoon"
Filmmaker Rumi Jaffery who was moderating the chat which Boneny Kapoor was also a part of was extremely impressed by the 'Dhadak' actress "As compared to other young actor of her generation, Janhvi has got a great command over not just Hindi but also Urdu which was quite surprising.
She must have learnt Tamil or Telugu from her mother, but her Hindi and Urdu diction is just exemplary," said Rumi.
"Her knowledge of Hindi cinema and her choice of brilliant performances by yesteryear actor really surprised me. I didn't expect Janhvi to take names like including
Waheeda Rehman in 'Khamoshi' and filmmakers like Satyaji Ray and
Bimal Roy. I was quite surprised when she spoke about dance performance choreographed by veteran dance director Pandit Briju Maharaj in a film like 'Shatranj Ke Khiladi' which was released more than three decades ago. It shows her her understanding of cinema. If given a chance she would love to be part of the remake of 'Mr & Mrs 55' starring
Guru Dutt and
Madhubala," added the filmmaker.
He added that what really moved him through the conversation was that the young actress didn't cry even once though she got emotional. "She stood like a rock next to her father
Boney Kapoor,"
