Saqib Saleem addresses controversy around ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’; reveals why he was absent from promotions: 'I felt that it makes sense to...'
Saqib Saleem has come out to talk about the ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ controversy and revealed why he stayed away from the promotional trail of the show.
The actor, who has been seen in ‘Dil Junglee’, among others, told Bollywood Bubble that he didn't want to talk much about it before the show came out as he wanted the discussion on his performance rather than discussing all this before the show hit the screens.
Saqib further revealed that he realised the impact that his character could not gain through the release of Citadel's trailer, and so he decided to avoid engaging with the media, as stated: "I didn't want to be detrimental to the narrative that the filmmakers were crafting". I think it would have been better to wait until the show came out before speaking to anyone."

He added that talking about his role before the show's release might have led to awkward interviews, as people wouldn't have been able to ask informed questions without having seen his work. Saqib further added that now that the show is accessible, the talk can move on to his performance, which is what he wanted all along.
Talking about all these controversies in the industry, Saqib further expressed why he reacted to all of those rumors or disputes. He said he normally doesn't react and also added that if he was going to react, then his reaction would not give anything fruitful, especially when something's edited or misrepresented. "Those conversations that need to take place between us have already been there. There is no necessity to go out and explain what transpired," he clarified.

Saqib also admitted that, given the collaborative nature of filmmaking, one is bound to disagree with others at times. However, this doesn't mean one needs to hype up the situation.Saqib Saleem also said that everything doesn't work out as expected, but a little deviation is not such a big deal. According to him, there should only be discussion when there's work to discuss and the need to clear the media's perception comes after releasing the work.
Saqib stated that his only aim is for people to talk about his work, and now that ‘Citadel' has been released, he is happy that attention is paid to his performance.
