She doesn’t care for controversies and only counts the stories that the papers come up with. As she prepares to play a village lass in Noukadubi, will ‘hot and sexy actor’ Riya Sen do a U-turn on her public image?
Well, I am hot and sexy and my performance proves that I am a good actor. I am comfortable being sexy, as I think every woman wants to look beautiful. Times have changed and now, people love to watch movies starring hot actors. So, I���d say that Riya is a sexy and hot actor.
Non-stop partying and late nights...
I don���t care, and neither do I have the time to call people and tell them that I am not that kind of girl. I am a mature girl. So, I know how to lead my life. I spend most of my time with my close friends and family. Whenever I am in Kolkata, I spend time with my parents and hardly attend parties or events. But the media has created this image. I really don���t know why.
Then, why do you always court controversy?
You guys should answer this. Some gossip magazines and journos create news and controversies. It never affects me, as I know how to ignore the same. They have a certain perception and to establish it, they need controversies. That���s why, I don���t read articles about me. I only count them!
As a hot and sexy actor, how do you relate to your village girl character in Rituparno Ghosh���s Noukadubi?
My work in Noukadubi is the best in my career. Rituparno is extremely happy with my performance. This kind of work gives me the opportunity to reinvent myself. I have to relate to that village girl, portray her feelings and identify with her lifestyle.
So, Noukadubi is the perfect platform to hog the limelight in Tollywood?
Why should I need a platform to come into the limelight? My time has come and I���m doing well in Mumbai. But I also want to work in Tollywood. A number of directors here have offered me roles, but I will say yes only if I like the script.
Would you rather have a good script or a hit?
A hit, of course. A film can only be a hit if it has a good script and gives its actors the opportunity to showcase their potential.
What projects are you working on, now?
We���ve wrapped up shooting for Noukadubi. I���ll start shooting for two Hindi films shortly.
