Baba Azmi has finally begun work on his father, late poet
Kaifi Azmi’s dream of him shooting a film in their ancestral village Mijwan, near Azamgarh. The shooting of Baba's film 'Mee Raqsam' began yesterday with the muhurat clap being given by Shivakant Dwivedi, district magistrate
Azamgarh, at the poet’s ancestral house in Mijwan on Wednesday morning.
And giving a surprise to Baba, was his elder sister
Shabana Azmi and wife Tanve, who, along with Namrata Goyal, Shabana's god daughter, arrived at Mijwan in the morning to be part of the muhurat.
Also present on the occasion were the film's lead actors Danish Husain and
Aditi Sharma.
'Mee Raqsam' is the story of a young girl who wants to learn dance but the whole village opposes her decision except for her father, who supports her. While Aditi plays the young girl, her father is portrayed by theatre and film actor Danish Husain of Newton and Soorma fame.

An emotional Shabana, on the occasion said, "Today has been an overwhelming experience for all the Azmis. Once in passing Kaifi sa'ab had asked Baba ‘Can a film be shot in Mijwan?’ Baba had let it pass then but today, during the centenary year of Kaifi sa’ab, Baba has made his dream come true. And it’s all the more special because the protagonist of Mee Raqsam is a 14-year-old resident of Mijwan, Aditi Sharma and the entire film is being shot in a start to finish schedule in Mijwan."
She went on to add, "Also, yesterday (January 17) happened to be Javed Akhtar’s birthday, so it’s double celebrations for us. I feel that Aditi will become a role model for the girls of Mijwan to dream big and soar higher. Abba’s blessings are with us."
Happy to be part of the film, Danish Husain, said, "Baba has written a fabulous script about a father-daughter relationship, and I am flattered that he offered me to play the father’s role. The reception here in Mijwan, Azamgarh, is ecstatic. For all the love we have received, we will make sure we work hard and make a film worthy of Mijwan and Kaifi Saheb."
