Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan: Bollywood actors who rejected major roles in Hollywood films

While actors like Irrfan Khan, Priyanka Chopra, and Deepika Padukone have starred in many Hollywood films, there have been times when Bollywood actors have turned down offers from the West too. From Shah Rukh Khan turning down the role that eventually Anil Kapoor played in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ to Hrithik Roshan saying 'no' to ‘Pink Panther 2’, here's taking a look at B-town actors who rejected some major roles in Hollywood films.

Shah Rukh Khan is rightly known as the King of Bollywood and commands a huge fan following across the world. The superstar also have admirers in the Hollywood industry. Not many know that he was first approached for the role of the quizmaster that was eventually played by Anil Kapoor in Danny Boyle’s ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. Talking about the same, SRK had said he didn’t do it because the host is a little bit of a cheat and a little mean. He had already done the show so he felt that if he does it, people will feel like he is doing the same thing.

Priyanka Chopra has already starred in a few Hollywood films and series and is also currently shooting for a few more. However, did you know that she had rejected the offer to be a part of ‘Immortals’? Yes, you read that right! The actress was approached for a role in ‘Immortals’. However, she reportedly turned it down as she did not have free dates at the time. The actress was shooting for her film, ‘7 Khoon Maaf’ back then.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a known face in the West after being a part of films like, ‘Provoked’, ‘Bride and Prejudice’, ‘Pink Panther 2’ to name a few. Rumour has it that she was also offered the role of the high priestess Briseis in the action film, ‘Troy’. The movie also starred Brad Pitt in the role of Achilles. However, Aishwarya had turned down the role because she wasn't comfortable with the hot and heavy intimate scenes the characters shared in the film, directed by Wolfgang Petersen.

Reports of Hrithik Roshan starring in a Hollywood film have been making the rounds for a long time now. However, there has been no confirmation on the same. The Greek God of Bollywood was offered the role of Vicente in ‘Pink Panther 2’. His ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ co-star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was also approached for the film. While she took up the part, Hrithik rejected it citing a busy schedule.

The reigning queen of Bollywood, Deepika Padukone made her big Hollywood debut with ‘XXX: Return of Xander Cage opposite Vin Diesel. Not many know that she was also approached for ‘Fast & Furious 7’. However, the actress did not take up the offer as she was already working on a project and was busy with her prior work commitments. In an interview with a news portal, Deepika stated that she does not regret her decision.
