Actor Shekhar Suman, who was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Heeramandi', has shared an emotional note on Instagram, recalling the darkest chapter of his life—the loss of his elder son, Aayush Suman, to a rare heart ailment. Posting a throwback family photo with wife Alka and son Adhyayan, Shekhar wrote, “We just came out of the greatest tragedy of our lives, having lost our elder son Aayush to a rare heart ailment. Things were very difficult. Alka and I went through severe depression and despair for years.”The actor confessed that the pain had pushed him to his lowest point. “I crumbled and did not want to live. But Alka gave me a lot of support and kept the family together, standing like the rock of Gibraltar,” he revealed, crediting his wife for her immense strength during their years of grief.Adhyayan became their reason to live.In the same note, Shekhar expressed how his younger son, Adhyayan, became their anchor. “Adhyayan was and is our great source of strength. He became the reason to live. We see Aayush in him. Addy was too small to understand the magnitude of this tragedy,” he shared.

Filmmaker Farah Khan commented, “Shekharrrrr and Alka are still the rock,” sending love to the family. One comment read, "In his life, Ayush had a great family, sir.
Especially a great dad." Another comment read, "I remember this happening during or near the end of Dekh Bhai Dekh back then; it was mentioned during one of the episodes then. If I remember it correctly, he was 11 when you lost him. I don't remember how I might have felt, as I myself was 12 or 13 then. Always admired the close-knit bond between you and your family." The candid confession offers a rare, vulnerable glimpse into the actor’s life off-screen, showing how he and his family continue to cope with an unimaginable loss. He acknowledged that while he “crumbled” under the weight of grief, his wife’s strength became the foundation for healing. “Alka was stronger than me. She gave me a lot of support and kept the family together,” he wrote.
