If you have never experienced a wild and crazy Holi, then you are not really a Delhiite, believes actress Soundarya Sharma. Until she moved to Mumbai two years back to pursue acting, the actress made sure that she was always at her home in Delhi for Holi. And she was never the one who would shy away from colours or even bhaang. “Forget gulaal, I was the one who would always play paint wali Holi and I have been to some wild Holi parties.

My cousin got married and we all know what big a deal ‘first Holi’ is in North India for a guy or a girl after marriage. At this party people were throwing cow dung at each other. That was the first time I saw something like that and got angry, but there were people who were enjoying that. So, there are people in Delhi who just go crazy on Holi and sometimes, they go to extremes and I don’t like that. I always played Holi with paints and I liked that. Now I have switched to organic colours,” said Soundarya, adding, “My Holi in Mumbai is all about meeting friends at some party, dancing and having fun. But I always miss that Dilli wali crazy Holi.”

The actress had bhaang on Holi two years ago and has always stayed away from it after that. “I had bhaang to impress a friend. I was at this place where they were serving small portions of bhaang thandai, but just to impress a friend, I had two glasses of it and I don’t remember anything that happened to me for the next two days. I don’t know who drove me home, if I ate or not. My parents thought I had food poisoning and they later were told that I had two glasses of bhaang. Now, I think how stupid I was to do that,” said Soundarya.
