Speedy Singh's a cross-cultural emotional drama

“Speedy Singh” is a cross-cultural emotional family drama, with ice hockey, Canada’s national sport, in the background.
Akshay Kumar, who has a special liking for outdoor sports, is believed to love ice hockey and thus was extremely eager to make a film based on this fast-paced sport.
The film revolves around an Indian ice hockey player, played by promising debutant Vinay Virmani.Virmani’s character is named Rajveer in the film, who is caught between his dream to make it big in the world of ice hockey and his family’s traditional expectations. Rajveer goes out to make an all-Sikh ice hockey team in the course of the film to chase his dream of becoming a professional ice hockey player. A source reveals that according to Vinay, a good ice hockey player in reel as well as real life, shooting for the hockey scenes was exciting as well as a challenging task.
A game of hockey lasts for a few hours as opposed to the choreographed scenes for the game which last longer. This makes it even more difficult to shoot on ice slabs and managing the heavy equipment for hours which is physically exhausting.
“Speedy Singh” is an East meets West sports drama that boasts of a star cast which includes Anupam Kher, Russell Peters, Rob Lowe and Camilla Belle.
A Viacom 18 Motion Pictures release, “Speedy Singh” hits theatres on September 23.
