'Sridevi would stay at this hotel for two years at stretch, had a fixed room,' says Chef revealing the food which the actress ordered
Sridevi is still often remembered as the first female superstar of Hindi cinema. Before marriage and motherhood, she was one of the busiest actresses and worked round the clock. While she was quite particular about her work and fitness regime, the actress also had her own preferences when it came to food, and always stuck to what she liked. In a recent interview, Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi who worked at the popular Centaur hotel in Juhu has revealed some of the anecdotes and experiences with Bollywood celebs during those times. Now this hotel is shut, but at one point, it was a hub of Bollywood celebs. Harpal Singh revealed Sridevi had a fixed room at his hotel and lived there for two years at a stretch.
He said during a chat with Siddharth Kannan, “She would stay at the hotel for two years at a stretch. She had a fixed room. But she wouldn’t eat there. Her food was brought in specially from a place called Harish. They had great Mangalorean food. Her spot boy would bring her a special tiffin with fish curry and all, but she would only have daal and steamed rice from the hotel.”
Chef further added, "Sabse bada (adda tha). We have seen Dharmendra’s son’s wedding, we have seen awards, we have seen Madhuri Dixit’s rise. She would come to the Chinese restaurant. We have seen all this. Full Bollywood used to be there.”
During the same chat, he recalled how he's seen Amitabh Bachchan scolding Abhishek Bachchan if he left food on his plate and wasted it. "Let me tell you something nice. We had an Indian restaurant, and Amitabh Bachchan used to come there. He would come with Jaya Bachchan ji, Abhishek Bachchan, and his daughter, Shweta. I still remember, when Amitabh ji would eat, and if there was any food left on his son’s plate, he would scold him: ‘Abhishek! Finish what is there in your plate," he said.
