Sultan director Ali Abbas Zafar picks his five favourite movies; check out his list!

During the lockdown, watching movies became an entertaining activity for many. While Mumbai is in Unlock 1 mode, and theatres will take time to open, there is scope to watch a lot more movies in the confines of your homes. So, we asked Sultan director Ali Abbas Zafar to share a few recommendations for a great watch. The director producer shares five of his favourite movies.He lists Yash Chopra’s Deewaar (1975), Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra and Hema Malini starrer, Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay (1975), Steven Spielberg’s 1998 directorial Saving Private Ryan, Frank Darabont’s 1994 release The Shawshank Redemption and the K Asif’s magnum opus and historical release of 1960, Mughal-e-Azam. Talking about his picks, he tells Bombay Times, “There are two main reasons I love watching these movies. One being that each one of these films are visually beautiful and two, they are high on drama!” Before the lockdown, Ali was busy with his production venture Khaali Peeli starring Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday. The Tiger Zinda Hai director last directed Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Disha Patani starrer Bharat that released in 2019.
